When is the right time to apply for Launchpad support?

You access support from Launchpad at any time by using our Advice Portal, but when is the right time to apply for specific support through our Launchpad Artists and Project support programme?

We support artists, projects and industry professionals who:

  • Make / facilitate great music, regardless of the recording quality

  • Have a well constructed and realistic vision of what they want to achieve

  • Demonstrate how Launchpad support can help them achieve their vision

Since 2019 we have been able to directly support about 20% of all the artists who have applied for support.

We think it’s always a good time to apply as, even if you’re not supported directly, your music will get listened to by our industry advisors and you can get feedback from our team wherever possible through our drop-ins or by email.

If you feel you’re not ready, or need help articulating your vision, please check out our resources and panels - available through out Advice Portal.

Why not watch our panel discussion with previously supported artists from April 2020?

The panel is hosted by Emily Pilbeam (BBC Music Introducing, Pilbeam Presents) and features four artists who were selected from our Launchpad Open Call in 2019. The panellists have also benefited from a wide range of support from other organisations and funders including Jazz North, Black Music Festival, Help Musicians, PRS Foundation and Arts Council England.

Panellists:
Emma Mason (Galaxians)
Jemma Freese (freese trio, DOMI, J Frisco)
Armani Anderson-Hamilton (Marnz)
Lins Wilson (Magick Mountain, Music:Leeds / Launchpad)

The artists will discuss the paths they have taken to get to where they are now, how they approached applying for support and how they’ve developed over the last year. If you’ve ever wondered how an artist gets support, this discussion will give you the opportunity to hear from those who’ve been there!
