Serena Johnson is a co-founder and director at Conscious Youth C.I.C, an award-winning youth-led organisation.
Her work challenges inequalities and supports young people aged 12-25 to become ‘creators’ rather than consumers’ by; taking accountability, empowering themselves and influencing positive change. Serena has worked with over 7,000 young people in education provisions, communities and The Corner Hub, their very own youth provision.
With over 12 years of experience in community development and a background in TV production in reality and music programming, Serena brings a wealth of expertise to her work as a youth engagement specialist. In 2024, she achieved a significant milestone by combining her passion for music with youth empowerment through the creation of HD Sounds - The first youth-led production house in Kirklees. This initiative provides marginalised and disadvantaged young people with the opportunities to explore their musical talents through creative projects, artist and talent development, training, and education.
HDSounds is a rapidly growing music initiative with partnerships with Limitless Live, Launchpad, Co-op Live, Kycker and Studio 88. Witnessing the vision of HD Sounds come to life and its transformative impact has been one of Serena’s most rewarding experiences.
Conscious Youth C.I.C. is an award winning youth-led organisation founded in 2016. It is based in West Yorkshire and dedicated to empowering young people aged 12-25 years old through innovative and engaging programmes. Founded with the mission to inspire and empower young people, they offer a wide range of services and initiatives that include artist development, music education, mentorship, open access youth clubs, targeted interventions and volunteering
