Afrobaby
Described by BBC Introducing as having a “fresh, empowering sound,” Afrobaby is a British/Nigerian artist from Bradford making her mark with genre-blending music that is both emotionally raw and sonically bold. Rooted in Bradford’s bassline energy and shaped by influences from electronic, liquid drum and bass, indie, R&B, and downtempo house, her music fuses high-energy rhythms with soulful, heartfelt lyrics — a sound that’s both euphoric and emotionally resonant. Inspired by artists like Fred again.. and Billie Eilish, Afrobaby’s writing explores mental health, grief, self-discovery, and resilience, creating space for listeners to feel seen and understood.
In a terraced house in Bradford city, she makes music late at night — the glow of streetlights spilling through her window, sirens in the distance, the sound of the city ever-present. She defies the expectation to always appear unshaken, proving that openness and vulnerability can be powerful.
In 2025, Afrobaby represented her city’s vibrant music scene at the prestigious Bradford City of Culture launch and later won Best Female Artist at the Bradford Music Awards.
Her debut EP SAFE SPACE is out now, and she is currently working on her second EP — continuing to explore anxiety, self-discovery, love, and personal growth through her fearless, genre-blending sound.
