Piano Day 2023 - 26th March 2023

Every year in late-March, the musical community comes together around the world to celebrate the piano; the huge variety of music created and performed on it; and the skills and talents of the musicians and artists who use it.

Brudenell Piano Sessions began life as an experiment for Piano Day in 2018 and has since gathered pace to cement its reputation as one of the most vibrant, unique and community-driven live music events in the UK. Amidst the global focus of Piano Day - and to mark 5 years of BPS events - we have teamed up with Launchpad to highlight and showcase the outstanding local music being created and performed here in the wider Yorkshire area.

Launchpad supports the music sector in Yorkshire, providing and signposting to advice, funding and opportunities - for artists, music businesses and music industry professionals.

In honour of Piano Day, we’ll gather around the piano at Brudenell Social Club to enjoy performances by Leeds-based alt-pop duo Lucky Iris, Wakefield-based singer-songwriter and vocal arranger Akin Amusan and East Yorkshire-based Italian classical pianist Graziana Presicce.

Hosted as usual by Leeds-based pianist & composer Simeon Walker, this show highlights the strength and breadth of the regional music scene, drawing multiple partners together to represent Yorkshire’s music and artistic community on a global stage.

Launchpad is delivered by Music Local, and is supported by Youth Music and Arts Council England with public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, as well as arts@leeds, Leeds City Council and PRS Foundation's Talent Development Partnership supported by PPL.
