Esther Amis-Hughes

Community Engagement Manager - Leeds Museums and Galleries

Passionate about Leeds, people and history, I have worked for Leeds Museums and Galleries since 2008 when Leeds City Museum opened. I believe museums should be accessible, representative and relevant to everyone, and have spent the last two decades forming partnerships and managing projects to better enable us to meet that vision. In 2023 I worked with Leeds Hip Hop Historian Society to co-curate '50 Years of Kulture: A Hip Hop Story', and in 2025 I was fortunate to work with partners from all over Leeds to deliver 'Music Leeds Us', a celebration of 60 years of popular music in Leeds and the 60th anniversary of Leeds Conservatoire.
