Lauren Housley
Artist
Lauren Housley is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Yorkshire whose work blends heartfelt storytelling with a powerful, emotionally rich vocal style. A mother of two and fiercely independent artist, she has already built an impressive career, releasing three full-length albums and achieving two BBC Radio 2 play-listed singles. Her songwriting is rooted in honest, earthy narratives that reflect personal growth, place and identity, delivered with warmth and conviction. Across Sweet Surrender (2015), The Beauty of This Life (2017) and Girl From the North (2021), Lauren explores themes of returning home, self-rediscovery and creative independence. The latter was recorded in a studio she built in her hometown of Rotherham with long-term collaborator Thomas Dibb, beneath a local food hall. Recorded before the pandemic and released during lockdown following the birth of her first child, the album resonated widely, earning impressive positions on the UK Official Country, Americana and Folk Charts. She now works primarily out of the Northern Cowboy Studio in Sheffield, writing and recording music for their project, Lauren Housley & The Northern Cowboys . She has also done session work for Britains Got Talent and The Voice UK.
In early 2022, Lauren focused on developing her live show alongside long-term collaborators Thomas Dibb and Mark Lewis, forming Lauren Housley & The Northern Cowboys. The project marked a bold sonic shift, earning two nominations at the 2024 UK Americana Music Awards, with “High Time” winning Song of the Year and the band shortlisted for Live Act of the Year. UNCUT praised the track as a “bulldozing Country-Soul” anthem. Lauren impressed US audiences with showcases at AmericanaFest in Nashville, including performances at EXIT/IN and The Bluebird Cafe, before being invited to SXSW 2024 in Austin, Texas. They played headlining slots at Brooklyn Americana Fest & Mile of Music (US) last summer & have previously played main stage shows at Bluesfest at The O2, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Underneath The Stars & Americana UK. Her rousing live shows introduce new material alongside fan favourites, drawing comparisons to a female-fronted Nathaniel Rateliff-style energy. Widely praised by fans and critics alike, Lauren has received strong BBC Radio support and glowing press from Uncut, Q and RNR Magazine. Whether on record or on stage, her performances are uplifting, soulful and unforgettable. Previously supported Jack Savoretti, John Grant, Richard Hawley & First Aid Kit & recipient of PRS PPL Momentum Fund & Help Musicians Fund.
